Cherry Blossoms

The end of March and the start of April provide a brief window of time in which the cherry trees ignite the landscape of Korea with pink flames. They are really quite brilliant to see and hard to miss, even for those hearts (such as mine) who are the most hardened towards horticulture and flora.

I took a whole series of pictures yesterday on a walk up Dalmaji hill near my apartment in Busan. The flowers only bloom for about two weeks and then they all die and are blown away in clowds of faded pink leaves, much like a surreal tickertape parade.

It still is a nice sight to see while it lasts. It my last term here in Korea and I have been busy packing up life here and mailing it home one box at a time, over the ocean by surface to save money.
I'm sure there is some analogy at work here, but I wouldn't want to burden anyone with it at the moment.
